PERINATAL & EARLY PARENTHOOD
The perinatal period (from conception into early childhood) can be daunting and is often a time of mixed emotions. Many parents will experience feelings of excitement and joy intermingled with anxiety and stress as they adjust to the idea of and realities of caring for a newborn. For some, these difficult feelings can interfere with day to day activities, affect relationships, or lead to mental health issues like postnatal anxiety and depression.
People seek additional support during the perinatal and early childhood period for a range of reasons. Difficulties that are particularly relevant to the perinatal and early childhood period include (but not limited to):

-
The psychological toll associated with difficulties falling pregnant
-
Anxiety and/ or depression during the antenatal or postnatal period
-
Change or strain in relationships during the antenatal or postnatal period, particularly around feeling adequately supported
-
Dealing with unexpected pregnancies
-
Questions around your own relationship with your own parents
-
Bonding and relationship with a child
-
Parenting strategies
-
Grief and loss
If you or your partner are trying to fall pregnant, are currently pregnant, or have recently been pregnant (including grief and loss), and are feeling that it may be beneficial to have someone outside your own family and friends to talk please contact Annie to discuss an initial appointment.
The practice is pram-friendly and we have toys available for young children.
